Once accepted into the early assurance track, students pursue one of three undergraduate teacher-preparation programs:

• Adolescence Education, for students seeking New York state certification in specific secondary (7-12) subjects.
• Childhood Education, which offers four distinct bachelor's degree majors for students who intend to teach in elementary grades. Note: Childhood Education majors may acquire childhood special education certification, allowing them to expand their certification area to include either early childhood or secondary.
• Physical Education, for students seeking certification in physical education and coaching.

Upon satisfactory completion of your undergraduate degree and having maintained good academic standing, a reserved seat awaits you in one of these School of Education graduate programs:

• Adolescence Education, a master's degree program in which individuals with a bachelor's degree in a content subject become initially certified to teach that subject in grades 7-12 in New York state.
• Inclusive Special Education, which prepares teachers for special education positions in a variety of settings, including self-contained, consultant teaching, integrated co-teaching, and resource room. This advanced certification program is founded on social justice and integrates the skills teachers need to be successful in today’s increasingly diverse schools. 
• B-12 Literacy Education, which prepares teachers to be reading and literacy teachers who can work in public and private school settings/educational centers with students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade as well as in childcare centers birth to pre-K. These specialists can continue to be classroom teachers and specialized reading teachers who assist students individually or in small groups pushing into or outside of the classroom.
